Al Aqmar Mosque : Islamic

The Aqmar Mosque is one of the few remaining mosques in Cairo, that have been built in the Fatimid era under vizier AL-Ma'mun al-Bata'ihi during the caliphate of Imam al-Amir, son of Munstasir .The mosque is located along north Muizz Street, with several significant monuments located next to it, including the Qalawun complex, and the mosque and madrasas of Selihdar. Al-Aqmar in Arabic means moonlight, derived from the word Qamar ("moon"). It is also sometimes called the Grey Mosque.
