The Hanging Church : Coptic

The Hanging Church is one of the oldest and most beautiful churches in Egypt, dating back to the 3rd century when there was an older church that preceded it in the same place. The church is located in the Babylon Fortress, where it was built above its gate, which gave the church its name (hanging) due to its elevated position. The church is lead to by a series of 29 stairs and is possibly the first in Cairo to be built in the basilican. It is also heavily decorated with around 110 icons in it.
